The Weekend Edition - You can't warp that way! 😡

Published 17 days ago • 2 min read

Hi Weavers!

This week's video starts with a comical skit just to display my very poor acting skills, but it was fun to make!

The video does have a valuable message too:

You can't warp that way!...

New project

During the week I picked out some new yarns from stash for my next project (which I'm not revealing the details of just yet!)

I can tell you about the yarns though.

The two merino skeins were some of the beautiful colours from the new Natural Dyeing class. The blue was dyed with gardenia and the pinky purple from lac.

The cone yarn is 8/2 Maurice Brassard cotton in Mauve Fonce colour way.

And the gorgeous spiral of colour is Noro Ito, which is available in a great range of colours.

Stay tuned to future newsletters for more details on this project!

New Membership Feature

I'm really excited to announce that a new Teachable feature many of you have requested is now available!

There are two elements to the update.

  1. If you accidentally hit the "cancel subscription button" you will receive an alert rather than an instant cancellation. I know this will be a big help to you as there are many unintentional cancellations!
  2. If you do decide to cancel your membership, you will see a "renew" button. This means that you can hop back into your membership anytime you decide to without having to purchase a brand new one.

Extra learning resources

How to use the lashing on method...

Double width rigid heddle tips...

Surface embroidery on weft floats...

Tool feature

Many of you have seen these spring clamps in some of my classes and asked about them.

They are super handy for warping with 3 heddles (holding the 3rd heddle in place for threading) and for clamping looms, warping boards and other apparatus to surfaces.

I wouldn't be without them!

Remember to follow me on Instagram! and tag me if you complete any of my classes or patterns - I will share them in my stories 😉

I also share content on my Instagram and in my stories that you won't see elsewhere.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Until next time...

Happy Weaving!

Hi Weavers! Theo Moorman was born in 1907 and died in 1990. She was an artist, weaver, author and teacher who developed a technique that is very simple but can make a huge difference to the outcome of your piece. Some of her own works can be found in the UK and USA in churches and cathedrals. Theo was interested in weaving pictoral designs like you find in tapestry but in a faster and less difficult way. Following a good deal of exploration she settled on a way of weaving that became known as...

Hi Weavers! Why are neat edges so important to weavers? 🤔 While we don't want to obsess and be too perfectionist about it, a straight, neat edge does have a positive impact on a woven piece. It's also an important step towards being a confident weaver and gaining predictable and pleasing results. Everyone can achieve neater edges, but I do have a few top tips that will help to make all the difference: Warp tension When I say warp tension you might think I'm referring to how tight your tension...
