The Weekend Edition - No room for snobbery!

Hi Weavers!

The weaving community is generally kind, supportive and helpful to anyone who is looking at giving weaving a go.

I am proud that we are such a lovely bunch of people!

Occasionally though, I hear something that makes me an equal mix of sad and angry 🙁😠

And it's almost always to do with a case of what I consider snobbery.

Imagine purchasing your very first rigid heddle loom and then being told you've wasted your money because it's not a real loom?

Or being looked down upon because you can only afford to, or you prefer to use acrylic yarn.

I hope that you haven't had this kind of negative experience, but if you have, I want you to know that the problem is with the negative Nancy - not with you!

All forms of weaving are valid, whether you use an inexpensive frame loom, a toy loom, a homemade backstrap loom, a mid range rigid heddle loom or a more expensive floor loom.

The point is that you're weaving, learning and enjoying the process, however that looks for you and your situation.

Don't let anyone steal your weaving joy! ❤️
